Prevot Design Services was hired to provide a feasibility study and preliminary design for an ambitious renovation and addition to the existing Bossier Parish Central Library. After working with library personnel, analyzing the existing facility and new programmatic needs, a design concept was envisioned to create a new addition while maintaining maximum use of the existing facilities. While the site constraints of this urban infill project proved challenging, the new addition not only adds the much needed square footage, but also provides a centralized entry for both the new and existing facilities, creating one unified library campus. The new main entry is a focal point as well as a large gathering space to organize and lead visitors from the existing program elements of the history center, adult, teen, and children’s areas to the cutting edge technology center and digital media labs. Also incorporating public spaces such as a cafe and exterior courtyard, the project creates a dynamic interaction of spaces and resources to serve the Bossier Parish Community as it grows into the future.
